Personal Care Homemaker

Personal Care Homemaker service includes assistance with: bathing; dressing; shampoo and hair combing; foot care (excluding nail cutting); denture care; shaving; bedpan routines; eating; ambulation and transfers (assistance only).


Before providing personal care the aide must have completed the 40 hours of homemaker training plus an additional 20 hours in personal care conducted by a qualified Registered Nurse, 3 of which is a practicum.

6 hours for full-time employees, pro-rated for part-time employees is required. One-half of the hours may be one-to-one supervision of personal care.

Introductory orientation visits in each client’s home by a qualified nurse on the first day of service and quarterly in-home supervision by a qualified nurse not less than once each quarter.
