The Home Care Aide Foundation, the 501(c)(3) arm of the Council, recently received a grant from the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Direct Access Program. With this funding, the Council will hold a series of regional in-service trainings for home care staff on providing enhanced care for vulnerable home care clients.  In total, the Council will provide 190 hours of education through a total of 30 trainings conducted to at least 450 home care aides and supervisors through this initiative.  The Council would like to thank Hayley Gleason, our Assistant Director and head of our Foundation, for her outstanding work securing and managing this exciting new training project.

Beginning this month and continuing through June 2018, the Council will offer five different trainings free of charge to home care staff employed by member home care agencies.  The Council will present each training listed below once at six different regional locations.  The trainings that will be offered through this initiative are:

  • Mental Health Supportive Home Care Aide Training – 12 hour advanced training for home health aides
  • Partners in Care Supervisors Training - 3 hour training for home care supervisors
  • Alzheimer’s Supportive Home Care Aide Training - 12 hour advanced training for home health aides
  • Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training - 2 hour inservice training for home care aides
  • Supporting LGBT Elders Training – 3 hour in-service training for home care aides
Council members should call or email Sydney Axelrod,, to get more information on scheduling a training for their staff.
