Council Responds to Boston Globe Articles

Last week, the Boston Globe published two articles about the home care industry and workforce titled, "Stranger in the House," and a follow-up, "The US Has a Huge Need for Home Health Care."

The Council and Mass Home Care, along with many other advocacy organizations and state agencies, had spoken with the reporter as she prepared these pieces. We were disappointed by the Globe's overarching negative portrayal of our critical and compassionate home care aide workforce. We were also concerned that key regulations currently in place safeguarding elders from the abuse and exploitation she described were not expanded upon, oversimplifying a complex system and misrepresenting the whole home care industry as unregulated.
