Last month, the Council joined with representatives from the Home Care Alliance, the Massachusetts Senior Care Association, and LeadingAge Massachusetts to participate in a meeting called by the Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI).  A division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, a public economic development agency, MeHI provides health information technology services to healthcare providers and care delivery organizations and is the designated state agency for:

  • Coordinating health care innovation, technology, and competitiveness

  • Accelerating the adoption of health information technologies

  • Promoting health IT to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of health care in Massachusetts

  • Advancing the dissemination of electronic health record systems in all health care provider settings

  • Connecting providers through the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE)

The purpose of this meeting was to engage in a brainstorming discussion with home care agency and long-term care facility representatives about the healthcare information technology training needs of their organizations. To gather feedback directly from the industry, MeHI developed the following survey and asked our organizations to share with our members to gather specific feedback on their Health IT training needs.

MeHI will compile the data collected through this survey and reconvene this group to discuss strategies for developing programs and services to better support the Health IT training needs of the Massachusetts long term care community.
